After much tweaking, I was able to achieve the stated aim of ZXZX - to play a perfect game of Track & Field. If you have MAME and wish to view the fruits of my labour, you can download the .inp file here.

The file should be unzipped and placed in the replays folder of MAME, there is an extensive collection of input files at MARP.
